O Balance Transfer Rewards Cards

Review: New Chase AARP Visa is Much Better Than the Old

Chase has recently refined its AARP Rewards Card, completing a base rate of 1% rewards with 3% discount on purchases of travel. The new version is now a decent card for retirees, offering 0% interest on balance transfers and purchases for 12 months and a solid rate of rewards. As with any other card, whether or not it is a good option depends on your spending habits, credit score and priorities, but in our opinion, this card is well suited to buying patterns seniors.

Chase AARP Visa offers a revised annual rate of 0% for 12 months on both purchases and balance transfers, which is largely of short-term debt. The rate increases sharply after that, it's probably not the best solution for anyone revolving debt for the long term. There is no annual fee, and a number of secondary benefits such as purchase protection, price protection, return protection and extended warranty protection.

We expressed our doubts about a year ago the former Chase AARP card, but they have since raised their game a little. The rate of pay was increased by 1% around a base rate to 1% unlimited, more than 3% on travel and 5% on all purchases within the first 6 months. The introduction of 5% rewards rate is a steal: If you intend to make a big purchase once, the network adapter, you substantial rewards. And 3% on travel will be useful if you retire to travel the world, or even just visit your grandchildren.

The benefits are quite AARP devices, though.Sure, you can redeem your reward points for membership or donations AARP - but you can also exchange money and cons of using it to pay premiums AARP, if this element is a bit pointless. And the interest rate is nothing special - as a senior, you should have a long credit history and hopefully good credit, so you can probably qualify for a lower APR if necessary.

While this card would never rank at the top of lists in terms of rewards in terms of interest rates, it is difficult to find a card that scores decently on rewards, balance transfers and purchases as APR Visa does AARP.Chase VP of public relations, Gail Hurdis, noted: "Our team and AARP spent last year looking over the members and see what they would find that valuable rewards. After this research, we designed our program based on their buying habits. "

With this card, Chase is also confirming the will of the AARP Foundation to End Hunger, which works to eliminate hunger among older Americans, a gift of $ 0.03 for each transaction and $ 1 for every account opened up to 2 million.
