0% Balance Transfers Substantially Remain Over CARD Act

Many are mulling over for the succeeding days of 0% introductory credit cards, especially those under 0% balance transfer cards after the Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act was passed on May 22, 2009.

CARD Act, which aims to establish fair and transparent practices relating to the extension of credit under an open end consumer credit plan, and for other purposes, has unconsciously created an effect to the credit card industry, making several banks and credit card companies to increase their interest rates in response.

However, despite of these speculations, balance transfer offers and cards have remained stronger and appealing to consumers. Such cards, as yet 2011 offer new cardholders of 0% APR balance transfers for 12, 15, 18, and even 24 months, a much stronger deals compared to those in the previous years.

Proving this, Citi recently has an increase in its introductory period in two of its latest offers, wherein each comprises an eighteen months 0% interest on purchases and balance transfers.

Discover Card also had two limited balance transfer offers. One has 24 months 0% APR on balance transfers and the other has 12 months 0% balance transfers with no balance transfer fees.

Although CARD Act, on the face of it, has brought changes to balance transfer fees, increasing some of its dues, balance transfers offer and balance transfers credit cards made it to remain as valuable instrument, helping those who seeks for temporary debt repayment extension.
