“We offer our deepest sympathies to our customers, staff and the people in Japan. Following the recent floods in Queensland and the Christchurch earthquake, we are acutely aware of the impact of disasters like this, and we will stand with you in your time of need.”
The Christchurch earthquake happened in September 2010. Over 65 people died in the earthquake and many people were just starting to get over that disaster only to be faced with a new one.
Japan is Australia’s second biggest trading partner. It is particularly important to ANZ as it forms a large part of the company’s super regional banking network. Mr Thursby went on to state:
“ANZ’s branches in Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya have stayed open during the events. Our staff in Japan have worked commendably to provide our corporate, institutional and retail customers with continuous access to the products and services they need. They have helped to keep business activity going in Japan during these terrible times.”
The 32 markets that ANZ operates have started to open up accounts for customers to place donations. Staff can also join in and donate what they can. If you are an Australian resident then you can make a donation at any ANZ branch.
You can also make a donation online too using internet banking. For those who would prefer this option you will need the following account details:
