Barclaycard leads the 0% balance transfer race

Barclaycard has blown open the 0% balance transfer credit card market with the longest ever introductory period.

A number of the conditions on the card have been amended, but the stand out change sees the 0% balance transfer period extended from 18 to 20 months .

The Barclaycard Platinum with Balance Transfer Visa rate has been increased to 17.5% APR, standard purchase rate increased by 0.6% per annum to 1.356% per month, 17.5% pa.

Balance transfer fees have increased to 3.2% (previously 2.9%). However as of 21/03/11 Barclaycard are offering new customers 25% off any additional balance transfer fee when you transfer more than one balance to Barclaycard (terms and conditions apply)

Although the card's main appeal is the balance transfer offer, there is still 0% on card purchases for 3 months . This card is sure to prove popular with consumers who will be keen to see if other providers rush to meet the 20 month offer.
