Has anyone ever tried going back to Providian after being sold ...
Over 6 months Providian sold my account to Columbia Bank and Trust, having worked with them for 7 years. My TU score has a nice increase when major b *, and I would like to catch Providian. I really miss the TU Fico! I think I am at a loss as most others why they sold my account. I have two late payments (30 days), but that was well over 3 years. Any ideas if they would take me back? Reply:Providian actually was the first card I applied for in 1999 after my old CO's(didn't handle the couple of cards I had in College well but they were paid and fell off 5 years ago) aged a bit and they sent me a pre-approved offer…They started me out at $500 29% APR and charged $99 for other Credit line increases..I eventually got to $4100 with a perfect payment history and just when my credit report was improving– in 2001 they sold my account to FNBO….I guess they were getting rid of their sub-prime market and obviously didn't care about perfect payment history..I guess then I was still a risk in their eyes…..Today I have a Paypal visa and a regular Providian which I have sock drawed(just for utilization) because I use Citi and Amex exclusively…I have no complaints about them though. Reply: Is it of the general opinion that Providian is "easier" to be approved for? I am at a loss to understand why it would otherwise be so popular…… I did have a Providian card, I think in -1998, it went to CO in 98/99 at the latest…… Never heard any more from them.. I thought -back then, anyway, they were "sub-prime"………. HL Reply:Is it of the general opinion that Providian is "easier" to be approved for? He tried again last week (need to wait 2 months before applying again with them is my understanding) since he has more things reporting now. Was declined, no inquiry pulled. There was an inquiry 2 months ago. I don't recall the decline reason specifics, but it was not due to prior history. Reply:not to add confusion to the mix, but i had had two pvd accounts when they decided to sell one, yes, just one to CB&T. i had had a perfect account history with both cards since about 2000 and 2001. a couple months after the sell off of one of the accounts (they kept the other), i applied with pvd/wamu again, and was approved, and for a much better deal (CL and interest rate) than the one they sold off. go figure.
