To all the American Express Clear offered 3.9% balance transfer for life of balance trasfered. It was perfect for me to pay my 10k more in credit card debt of others.The only drawback I saw is that they will not allow you other options to transfer balance to one of their cards until you repay the outstanding loan. Unfortunately I did not learn the first time and need a new balance transfer option for a visa from Chase which jumped 17.99 percent to 39.9 percent in the past 12 months and there are very few companies these days to make a comparable offer. Those look very carefully at your history and often close the accounts with a balance existing as I had to make sounds horrible. It took my credit score from 720 to a flat 600.To add insult to injury many companies are lowering credit limits based on your current balance just to keep themselves protected. This looks as bad as it seems you have prolonged or less closed to your maximum credit limit for all cards. A double whammy if you like. You do not know the answer, but hopefully with this new legislation for monitoring all Americans will start to tell these companies to go and start working on cash only. Thats the only thing we can really begin to hurt these companies that pray off the consumer.
