Devil's advocate: Credit is good for you
This post comes from partner blog Jim Wang Bargaineering.
A major lesson of the post-credit crisis - and we could say that we are always around the fight against the crisis itself - is the idea that cheap credit and cheap debt are bad for you.
In general, I agree that racking up double-digit interest rate debt is a bad thing, but having access to credit can be a very good thing.
It's been a while since I wrote after a Devil's Advocate, but I think it's appropriate. There was a huge backlash against the recent credit and debt, in part because they were the cornerstone of the credit crisis. I think the anger and fear are somewhat unfounded. For every irresponsible borrower, there is a responsibility to take full advantage of credit and use it in a way that enriches his life.
Today we'll examine some of the reasons why you should not give credit. Builds Credit Score
We live in a society where your FICO credit score is important to everyday life.Whether you're looking to rent an apartment, buy a car, or just borrow money with a good credit rating is important, and the only way you can get a good score is to demonstrate the practice of good credit .
Estimate your credit score freeUnfortunately you can not prove that you are responsible for a loan without obtaining a loan in the first place. It is now one of the cruel catch-22s and one of the main reasons why I think the debt can be a good thing. You do not need to carry a balance on your credit card to prove use credit responsibly. You do not get bonus points for achieving a balance or pay interest. You just need a card that you use regularly and pay regularly. Using credit responsibly, you prove that you can trust - and you can get more favorable rates.
Credit is not cash. This is a cash advance. Taking tens of thousands in this way in an emergency situation may be better than a payday loan, but not by much. If you do not have money in your account now, how do you know yourself when it comes time to pay the bill and the APR usually astronomical? This is a good reason to have an emergency savings account cash, no credit card as a first resort. I have my reasons.I think it is more difficult to clean if you carry wads of cash.New Nationwide 17-month 0% balance transfer deal - February - 2011 ...

Credit card customers desert the country in favor of simpler solutionsWhich?Credit card expert Martyn Saville commented: "It is quite easy to see why the country has changed the fee structure for overseas credit card - consumers have asked the old Gold card for fair use abroad, maintaining another credit card better from another vendor for expenses on a daily basis in the United Kingdom.
"The new scale of rewards for customers who regularly use the card in the UK and on holidays.
